HEMIANTHUS MICRANTHEMOIDES on Mesh

Hemianthus micranthemoides, also known as Micranthemum micranthemoides, pearl grass and pearl weed, is a popular aquatic plant most commonly used in aquascaping. It is very similar to H. callitrichoides, but has somewhat larger leaves. It belongs to the group of aquarium plants commonly known as “pearl weed”

Once this plant has established, pruning is necessary as it has the capability to grow unruly when left without care. This plant will tolerate substantial pruning, so you can let it grow large and dense and then trim it into a desired shape if you wish.

The plant appreciates regular doses of nitrate and an iron/micronutrient mix. High levels of PO4 (Phosphates at 1.5-2 ppm) appear to promote larger, more robust stems and faster growth.
