So far I have found this sponge filter to be the best in terms of size and sponge porosity. Its relatively easy to clean, well weighted and sinks well in the aquarium with out the need to add any additional hacks to it to make it sink. It can a bit noisy if to much air is blasted through it, but this can easily be fixed by installing one of our never clog plastic air stones to it.

For the price you wont go wrong, only issue i have is that the air hose slips off every so often but you can bypass it and put an air stone inside, sounds better that way to boot.
